Insurance
National Health Insurance (NHI)
According to the National Health Insurance Act, anyone who holds a residence certificate and has lived in Taiwan for at least 6 months must participate in the National Health Insurance program.
As required, the university will include the health insurance fee for international students (NT$4,956 per semester) in the tuition and fee payment, which students must pay during registration.
Cathay Group Accident and Health Insurance
Additionally, according to Taiwan’s health insurance regulations, all international individuals staying in Taiwan for more than 6 months are required to enroll in National Health Insurance. During the first 6 months before you are enrolled in NHI, the university will arrange for you to have Cathay Group Accident and Health Insurance (similar to NHI).
The insurance fees will be collected along with the tuition fees.
International students participating in this insurance, during the coverage period (generally 6 months), who need to use the insurance for illness or injury, must first confirm that their medical treatment is not for special diseases or services excluded from coverage.
When seeking medical treatment, please ask the hospital to provide a diagnosis certificate and receipt, and prepare the following documents for insurance claims:
- Original payment receipt
- Original diagnosis certificate
- Copy of your postal savings account passbook cover
- Insurance claim application form (please download and fill out this form)
- Copy of your residence certificate
Please submit the above documents to the insurance personnel at the 10th-floor lobby of Jing Sheng Building between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Thursdays. After the insurance company’s claims department confirms that the documents are complete and applicable for a claim, the reimbursement will be transferred to your postal account within approximately 4 weeks.
