Insurance

National Health Insurance (NHI)
According to the National Health Insurance Act, all individuals who have held a residence permit and have lived in Taiwan for more than 6 months are required to participate in the National Health Insurance program.
As per the regulations, the school will include the health insurance fee (NTD 4,956 per semester) for international students in the tuition and fees payment form, which students are required to pay during registration.

Cathay Group Injury and Illness Medical Insurance
Additionally, according to Taiwan’s health insurance laws, all international individuals staying in Taiwan for more than 6 months are required to enroll in National Health Insurance. Before you join the NHI, the school will arrange for you to have Cathay Group Injury and Illness Medical Insurance (which is similar to the NHI) for the first 6 months.
The insurance fees will be collected along with tuition and fees. International students participating in this insurance should confirm that their medical needs are not for special diseases or medical behaviors that are not covered by the insurance.
When seeking medical treatment, please request a diagnosis certificate and receipt from the hospital, and prepare the following documents to apply for medical compensation.
Please note: Outpatient benefits are limited to one claim per day for the same symptoms, with a daily maximum reimbursement of NTD 1,000, not including registration fees.
Required documents for claim:

  • Original payment receipt
  • Original diagnosis certificate
  • Photocopy of bank book cover
  • Insurance claim application form (please download and fill out)
  • Photocopy of residence permit
Please bring the above documents to the 10th-floor lobby of the Jing Sheng Building on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 and submit them to the insurance company personnel. Once the insurance company confirms that the documents are complete and eligible for compensation, the approved compensation amount will be transferred to your postal bank account in about 4 weeks.
